Atlanta Solar Power Company Receives Grants for 750 Kilowatts in Three Projects

Jan 4, 2010 | 8:33 AM

Inman Solar will install three projects that have received ARRA grants, as administered by GEFA.

(December 18, 2009) Atlanta, GA - Inman Solar, an Atlanta-based, full service solar photovoltaic (PV) systems integrator, serving commercial and residential clients, has commenced installation of three commercial PV projects that will be completed over the next six months.  The projects represent over 750 kW of installed capacity, and are the realization of federal stimulus initiatives at the local level.

The projects include a 25 kW solar canopy project on an Atlanta office property adjacent to the Beltline.  The other two projects are a 95 kW project in Peachtree City, and a 650 kW project on a vacant industrial building in Atlanta.

The 650 kW project will be the largest solar project installed in Georgia.

“These projects represent the full range of value-added that commercial solar projects can deliver for business owners and investors,” said Steve Chiariello, Director of Marketing for Inman Solar.  He added, “In addition to generating clean renewable energy, each system will meet the owner’s investment objects, whether that is creating green buzz for their business, or a straight return on investment.”

The grants were part of the Clean Energy Property Rebate program, funded by federal stimulus dollars and administered by the Georgia Environmental Facilities Authority (GEFA).  In all, the program awarded $4.5 million in grants to 14 projects.

North Georgia Customers - The Best Deal in the State

Oct 7, 2009 | 5:30 PM

If you are lucky enough to live in a section of North Georgia serviced by a TVA Power Distributor (North Georgia, Blue Ridge Mountain or Tri-State EMCs), then you can take advantage of the best incentive available in the State.  In addition to qualifying for State and Federal grants and/or tax credits, TVA will pay a premium for solar power generation.

How the program works:

  * A solar photovoltaic generation system is installed by a residential, commercial, or industrial power customer served by a participating power company of TVA.
  * TVA will purchase all of the green energy output at a rate of 12 cents per kilowatt-hour as a premium payment above the retail rate and any fuel cost adjustments. For example, if you pay your power company 10 cents per kWh for the electricity you use to your power your home each month, then TVA will pay you 22 cents (10 cents plus a 12 cent guaranteed premium) per kWh for 100% of the green energy generated from your solar photovoltaic system.

A 5 kW solar photovoltaic (PV) installation in the Valley averages 500 kWh per month or roughly $110 per month Generation Credit:

500kWh X $0.22/kWh (average retail rate of $0.10 + solar premium $0.12) = $110

  * All new Generation Partners participants will receive a $1,000 incentive to help offset start-up costs.
  * The participating power company will provide monthly statements showing the energy used and any credit due.  Power bills will be reconciled either monthly or annually, at the discretion of the participating power company. Energy consumed at the home or business, whether it is generated at the site or delivered over the local power distribution system, is billed at the standard rate.
  * The customer is guaranteed payments for 10 years from the start of the agreement with the local power company.
