Peachtree City Company Installs One of the Largest Solar Energy Systems in Georgia

(January 14, 2010) Atlanta, GA - Aircraft Spruce, a Peachtree City company, has recently completed an installation of a 120 kW photovoltaic (PV) solar energy system.  This installation is a roof-mounted system on the company’s 52,000 square foot facility.

The system represents the largest solar installation in Fayette County and one of the largest installations in Georgia.  This system will produce 157,000 kW-hours of clean, renewable energy for the building.  It will reduce carbon emissions by this facility the equivalent of taking 20 cars off the roads per year or planting 32 acres of trees.

This is the second installation for Aircraft Spruce, which recently completed a similar 120 kW system on their facility in Corona, CA. 

Inman Solar, an Atlanta based company, performed the engineering and installation.  “This project is significant in a number of ways,” says Inman Solar Vice President Steve Chiariello. “In addition to creating a positive return on investment for the owners, it is also a great way to demonstrate their commitment to the environment and sustainability in Georgia.”
 
The building is located on Dividend Drive near the Peachtree City airport.  Tom Carty, Department Head of the Peachtree City Building Department, welcomes the new project.  “Projects of this sort are the future, and we welcome this kind on positive change in our community.”

The project is being subsidized by a 30% federal grant and will also be receiving a 35% Georgia Investment Tax Credit.  Mr. Chiariello notes that, “the biggest challenge facing solar projects is not the size of the incentives available, but finding companies that can utilize the tax based incentives.”
